That's what my husband said when I told him I want a new kayak. "But you just bought the Eddy." Yes, honey, I know but I'm not in love with it. I thought it was the one - but I think it was just infatuation. "Sigh".
I think I found the one. It's a Current Designs Slipstream. Again, read great things but this looks like a kayak I can start advancing my skills in. I want to start to roll so I can hang out with the cool kids. I don't have confidence that Eddy is a good rolling boat. So I drove all the way to Camano Island and brought this guy home without paddling it. They say that's the cardinal sin of kayaking but I haven't paddled any of my other kayaks first so why should this one be any different. Yes, I'm stubborn.
I took it out to American Lake for our maiden voyage. Here's my initial review.
First, it is beautiful. The shape of this boat is very sexy, a head turner on
the water or on your car rack. Glides through water like butter. The Slipstream
rides effortlessly through the water. It feels fast! Turns easily too. So far, so good :-) Our first date was a success!
