I've been waiting and waiting and searching and searching, looking to buy a Valley Avocet LV. All the other kayaks were just placeholders until I found one. And I did. Find one. In Sacramento. 700+ miles away. So what does any non-rationale, impulsive person do? Call in sick and make the drive to go get it of course.
So with blind faith and crossed fingers, I went to get it. When I got there, it was a beautiful red color, not a blemish on it, keel strip already installed and...full carbon kevlar deck and hull. What the..??!! I kept thinking "please Mr. Seller don't change your mind, don't change your mind, don't see that I'm salivating and raise the asking price". I gotta play it cool. I can't - I tell them I'm so excited to get it and I've been waiting forever and thank you very much here's my money can I go now.
I strap it to the top of the car and head back home, driving as cautiously as possible as to not get in the way of any errant rock or road debris. I've been on the road for 38 hours and I'm still smiling.
