Mayfield Lake

May 26, 2012

Took the Avocet our on our maiden voyage at Mayfield Lake.  Still getting used to her - felt way more comfortable in my Slipstream.  Maybe I've built up my expectations too much for this boat.  The waters got choppy and I was white knuckling it the whole time.  My Slipstream would just plow through the waves - this one rides on top of it.  Dunno if I like that...

We found a protected area of the lake which gave me a chance to relax and lessen my grip a little. Jaw is a little tight from being clinched.

Found this amazing wall of water in one of the coves

Don't know what kind of bird this is but he didn't budge when we paddled underneath him.

I'll keep you posted on my relationship with the Avocet.  Right now, we're still getting to know each other.

  2. Thanks Dr Death! Although I've been paddling year round, I haven't posted much recently. I'm glad you've enjoyed my little adventures. I will take a look at your blogs since I enjoy reading other paddlers' stories and especially seeing the pictures. Thanks!
